Why It Matters

Malware infections compromise visitor security, redirect traffic to malicious domains, and cause search engines to display prominent "This site may be hacked" warnings. Immediate remediation is critical to prevent permanent domain reputation loss.

  1. Environment Isolation & Scanning: Isolate server files and execute thorough malware scans across server directories and database records.

  2. Core CMS File Replacement: Replace core CMS files, themes, and plugins with clean, verified original source downloads.

  3. Credential Reset: Change all admin, FTP, SSH, database, and hosting panel account passwords immediately.

  4. Request Security Review: Once the site is verified clean, open the Security Issues report in Google Search Console and click "Request review" to remove Google’s warnings. Other blocklists (such as Norton Safe Web or McAfee) have their own review forms.

  5. Harden Vulnerable Endpoints: Patch the original entry point vulnerability, audit file upload permissions, and restrict access to administrative sub-directories.
