Why It Matters
DNS resolution is the first step of every web request. Slow or unreliable DNS nameservers introduce latency into every user visit and risk complete site unreachability if primary DNS servers crash.
Deploy Anycast DNS: Utilize premium Anycast DNS providers (such as Cloudflare, Route53, or Google Cloud DNS) for rapid global IP resolution.
Redundant Nameservers: Ensure at least 2–4 geographically distinct authoritative nameservers are configured for your domain.
Optimize TTL Settings: Set balanced Time To Live (TTL) values (e.g., 3600 seconds) on A/AAAA records to balance caching speed with server migration agility.
DNSSEC Implementation: Enable DNSSEC authentication records to prevent DNS spoofing and cache poisoning attacks.
What DNS Propagation Means
DNS changes don’t reach everyone at once, because resolvers around the world keep cached answers until the record’s TTL expires. Before a planned change (such as moving hosts), lower the TTL to about 300 seconds a day ahead, make the change, confirm it with a tool like dig or whatsmydns.net, then raise the TTL again.
